A Fellow at a recent session here in Salzburg has forwarded the information attached below about a foundation program that might be of interest to US arts and culture professionals working on projects related to Russian culture. Please feel free to spread the word to your colleagues.
Best regards from Salzburg,
I would like to use this opportunity to inform you about the announcement of the Likhachev Foundation program which I might have mentioned to you. I am not sure if you would be interested in applying for this fellowship, but maybe you could pass this information to your friends and colleagues:
http://www.lfond.spb.ru/chronicle/411
The Likhachev Foundation (St. Petersburg, Russia) together with the Committee on External Relations of St. Petersburg and Fund of the First Russian President Boris N. Yeltsin (Moscow, Russia) announces competition for 2-week cultural fellowships in Russia (St. Petersburg) from August 23 till September 5, 2010 for American professionals in the field of arts and culture who work on projects related to Russian culture. Airfare and accommodation in St. Petersburg will be covered by the organizers.
Deadline for submitted applications is April 12, 2010. Applicants will be notified of the review panel decision by May 5, 2010.
You can find additional information about the fellowships in enclosed files "About program" (pdf), "Call for Proposals-2010" (doc).
By the way, next year, 2011, is the anniversary of the great Russian writer Fyodor Dostoyevsky - he was born on 30 October 1821 and died on 28 January 1881. He lived in St. Petersburg and wrote many of his great works here. There is a museum in his former apartment which is also an important theatre venue. His manuscripts are in the collection of the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkin House), and many of the addresses mentioned in his novels (Crime and Punishment, Idiot, White Nights) actually exist, so "the Dostoyevsky tour" is one of the many attractions of St.Petersburg.
Anyway, in case you, your friends and colleagues decide to do a project on Dostoyevsky, his writings or works inspired by him (theatre, film, music), St. Petersburg is the right place!
